Helping to search out people from the past
Genealogy Research
Glenn King offers reasonable hourly rates or, to take out the unknown time factor, he will put together a package rate.
Family History research is carried out in archives and repositories in the Kingston area as well as other repositories throughout Ontario, and across the rest of Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. Sources include, but are not limited to, vital statistics, estate records, newspaper articles, church records and cemetery records. Computer-based searches as well as the LDS (Family History Centre) are also utilized.
Before Glenn begins, and as the research work progresses, your family information will be entered into a genealogy database program. From this, a copy of your family pedigree and/or GEDCOM file can be generated.
All of Glenn’s clients receive full, written reports outlining the positive and the negative results along with any relevant documentation. He will gladly answer any questions that arise so that you understand the results. With every report Glenn offers suggestions for further searches but also his honest opinion on whether further searching is warranted. Is it really worth spending the time trying to find that additional “tidbit” of information?
Your Family History in Book Format
The results of your family history can be put together in book format. Not only will this book include the information specific to your family, but it will be “fleshed out” with maps, historical, political and geographical background and other pertinent commentary. All this can help you better understand the world in which your ancestors lived and, perhaps, the reasons behind their actions and movements.
Photographic Services
Glenn King offers digital photography services for clients who are interested in obtaining a photograph of a headstone, a former residence, or an historic building located in the Kingston area.
Probate Research
Glenn King offers probate research services with the aim of locating missing beneficiaries and unknown heirs to prove their right to inheritance.
He has successfully located beneficiaries in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
Testimonials
disappointing. No disappointment here though. Glenn King was prompt,
courteous, friendly and very thorough. In my case he solved a problem
that appeared to me to be insurmountable, and which required
knowledge of both Canadian and US records from the late 1800s and
early 1900s. And the price was right. In fact it was extremely
helpful that he accepted my local (Australian) cheques.
I was very happy to return to him some months later for further
research. Highly recommended.
